VEX V5

IronMechs (99157A) was the founding competitive team of Abacus Robotics, established in 2015 and built around a roster of students from Haymarket, Manassas, and the surrounding area. The team competed during the academic school year in the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC), reaching the state championship each season and attending the world championship twice, winning awards at both events.

The team's identity centered on design modularity and performance. Each subassembly on their robot could be easily taken off, adjusted, and reattached, allowing for quick diagnosis of issues. After each competition, the team evaluate the performance of each component, noted what could be improved, and made the necessary adjustments for the next competition.
